Guilford County Democratic Headquarters is a regular stop for major candidates and their campaign surrogates. In the past week, presidential campaigners for Vice President Kamala Harris included her sister, Maya Harris; NBA and Duke Basketball great Gene Banks introduced North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Josh Stein; and Jamie Harrison, chair, Democratic National Party conducted a Harris for President pep rally outside the Guilford Democratic Headquarters located on Meadowview Road in Greensboro.
The well-known guests received enthusiastic applause. They mingled with staffers and organizers and spoke about the candidates.
Maya Harris breezed into the busy office, stopping to greet a throng of people, gravitating to the children in attendance. Lakelynn Houston, age 6, came prepared with a poster welcoming Harris, who dutifully signed it on her way to the podium where she delivered a Harris for President pep talk.
A towering Gene Banks worked the room before introducing N.C. Gubernatorial candidate, current N.C. Attorney General Josh Stein, saying, “As a Dukie, I support Josh, a UNC Chapel Hill graduate for governor,” prompting smiles and approving laughter.
National Democratic Party Chair Jamie Harrison arrived on a huge bus, which served as backdrop for the Kamala Harris for President rally in the parking lot. District 6 U.S. Rep. Kathy Manning joined Harrison and other speakers advocating for the Harris-Walz campaign.
