More than 5,000 colorful tassels are turning during the high school graduations of Guilford County Schools’ students. Ceremonies began in the last week of May for the academies, early and middle college graduates, with remaining traditional high school commencements set for next week.

Grimsley High School’s graduation will be the first of 17 ceremonies held at Greensboro’s First Horizon Coliseum complex. To the familiar sound of Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance March No 1,” the graduation processionals will take place in the coliseum’s main area or the Special Events Center.

The coliseum complex is located at 1921 W. Gate City Blvd. Although open to the public, admission to the ceremonies may require a ticket or pass. GCS officials advise contacting the school for clarification.
