Cone Health Foundation (CHF) is proud to announce that Yazmin Garcia Rico, MSW, and Christina Yongue, MPH, MCHES, have joined as Directors of Community Engagement and Impact. In these roles, Garcia Rico and Yongue will join CHF colleague, Jamilla Pinder, working in partnership with community-based organizations to drive the Foundation’s equity efforts in improving health outcomes with a focus on access to health care, healthy food, safe and healthy housing, education and economic mobility.

Garcia Rico comes to the Foundation after serving as the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services’ (NCDHHS) Director of Hispanic/Latinx Policy and Strategy for the last three years. Throughout Garcia Rico’s career, she has been a tireless advocate for the Hispanic/Latinx and historically marginalized populations in North Carolina through different roles in the nonprofit, health and government sectors.

Christina Yongue was formerly the Director of Undergraduate Studies and an Associate Professor in the Department of Public Health Education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Yongue, a member of the Greensboro Health Disparities Collaborative and a former CHF Board member, has managed research studies which eliminated a racial disparity for cancer patients through a community-based participatory approach.

Cone Health Foundation invests in community-driven solutions and works in partnership with community-based organizations, civic and legislative leaders, and the philanthropic community, centering the voices and experiences of those in Greensboro who have been historically marginalized.
