Students explore future career paths during Bluford STEM Academy’s Career Day

Posted

Career Day at Bluford STEM Academy opened the eyes of all of the elementary school’s students to a plethora of future career paths.

A dozen volunteers representing careers in the arts, service dog training,  fire fighters, law enforcement officers and tech creators met with students and answered their questions. Returning to their classrooms, students discussed their experiences, with some drawing pictures to illustrate their thoughts.

“Through our Career Day, our scholars are introduced to careers and are in a space where they can ask questions about a particular career path. Career Day is impactful because it serves as a bridge that connects what our scholars are learning academically, socially, and emotionally to college and career readiness skills,” said Anitra Powell, a social worker at Bluford STEM Academy.
