To our dear readers,
The Carolina Peacemaker published a story on page A5 in its January 2, 2025 edition titled “Raleigh police officer suspended, then retires after posting Juneteenth is ‘made up holiday.’” This article featured a photo of the wrong officer. The photo was to have been of former Raleigh Senior Police Officer Daniel Twiddy. Unfortunately, the story featured a photo of recently fallen Greensboro Police Officer Michael Horan with former Raleigh Officer Twiddy’s name as a caption. The Peacemaker regrets this error, which has been corrected in our January 2, 2025 e-edition. This statement will also appear in the next print edition of the newspaper on January 16, 2025.
We are saddened by the passing of Officer Horan and express our deepest sympathy for his loss. We wish Officer Horan’s family and the members of the Greensboro Police Department peace and comfort during this difficult time. We are grateful for Officer Horan’s service and for the service of all law enforcement. May Officer Horan’s memory be a blessing.
Sincerely with great admiration,
Afrique I. Kilimanjaro
